Holy Father Nicholas, Pray unto God
for us sinners!Welcome! This site is the official homepage of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Columbus, Ohio.
We are situated on the edge of the Ohio State University Campus, where we have been spreading the Word of God and the traditional Patristic Orthodox teachings for the last twenty-five years.
Our parish priest is V. Rev. Miroljub Ruzic.
The St. Nicholas Orthodox Christian community is striving to obey unadulterated traditional practices of the One, Holy, Apostolic and Undivided Orthodox Church.
Our parish is dedicated to following the Love, Meekness and Faithfulness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ by sharing the Good News with our words and living It with our lives in the spirit of the traditional Orthodox devotion, humility and piety.
With the help of God, the Most Holy Ever-Virgin Theotokos, our Patron Saint St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and all of the Martyrs and Saints, we are steadfastly committed to preserving and safeguarding the Purity of our Holy Orthodox Faith in the midst of the growing universal apostasy. "Behold, I am coming quickly. Keep on holding fast that which thou hast, in order that no one should take thy crown." (Rev. 3:11)
Whether you live in the greater Columbus area and are looking for a traditional and authentic Orthodox spiritual home, or you are visiting Columbus, please come and worship with us. Our church is always open to all!
From Patristic Spiritual Nectar
"A troubled mind and chaotic thoughts are the fruit of a disordered life, and these darken the soul. When passions are driven from the soul with the help of the virtues, and the curtain of passions is drawn back from the eyes of the mind, then the intellect can perceive the glory of the other world. The soul grows by means of the virtues; the mind is confirmed in the truth and becomes unshakable, girded for encountering and slaying every passion. Freedom from passions is brought about by crucifying both the intellect and the flesh. This makes a man capable of contemplating God. The intellect is crucified when unclean thoughts are driven out of it, and the body when passions are uprooted. A body given over to pleasure cannot be the abode of the knowledge of God. True knowledge i.e. the revelation of the mysteries - is attained by means of the virtues, and this is - the knowledge that saves." -Saint Justin (Popovich) of Cheliye Monastery in Serbia, the New Philosopher and Teacher of the Holy Orthodox Faith
"...Overthrowing reasonings and every high thing which lifteth itself up against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of the Christ!"
What is the Holy Orthodox Church?
The One, Holy, Apostolic and Undivided Orthodox Church is the original Church founded by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. The word Orthodox comes from the Greek words Orthos, which means correct, and Doxa, which means belief, praise or glory. The Orthodox Church is One with the unity of God Himself, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. It is Holy with the Holiness of the Most Holy Trinity. The Church is Universal, which means that it is living the fullness of Divine Truth and embracing all faithful Christians of all times and places. The Orthodox Church is also Apostolic, meaning that it traces all of its doctrine, traditions and authority to the original Apostles. The Orthodox Church is Undivided and not many (One), Sanctified and set apart for the work of God (Holy), whole and characterized by fullness and Universality (Catholic), and has at Its Essence the going out into all the world to preach the Good News and to baptize the nations (Apostolic). Today, there are more than 4 million Orthodox Christians in the U.S. and there are Orthodox Christians in every continent around the world!
The Divine Liturgy
"The Divine Liturgy of the One, Holy, Universal, Apostolic and Undivided Orthodox Church is the heortologic Icon of the Eternal Liturgy, whose Never-ending Uncreated Light and Salvific Grace, through the Sacred and Mystical celebration, illumines our changing times, defiled lives, and unstable hearts with its immutable and undistorted Spiritual Splendor, and unsurpassable Eternal Majesty." (fr. Miroljub)
